Washington County announced on May 12 that the Regular Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. The election will nominate party candidates as well as nonpartisan local school board positions listed on the ballot.
The notice outlines important information for voters, including that ballots for those voting by mail will be sent out beginning 21 days before the election. Voters can find details about ballot drop box locations, polling places and hours, early voting sites, and voter qualifications at elections.washco.utah.gov or vote.utah.gov. Information is also available by phone or in person at the Washington County Administration Building. On Election Day, polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
The county clerk/auditor attested to these details in the public notice. Electronic marking devices will be available at each vote center to assist voters with sight and mobility issues. The notice says individuals with disabilities who are unable to vote a manual ballot by mail may obtain information about accessible voting from the county website or by contacting the county clerk directly.
Logic and accuracy testing of automatic tabulating equipment is scheduled before and after Election Day in accordance with state law UCA 20A-4-104. The first test is set for Tuesday, June 2, at noon; the second test is planned for Monday, June 29, also at noon. Both sessions will take place at Entrance C of the Washington County Administration Building in St. George.
Washington County advances cultural vibrancy through its public library system and convention services; it maintains key community facilities such as Dixie Convention Center and Legacy Park; its sheriff’s office patrols over 2,500 square miles; it serves as a catalyst for sustainable prosperity while honoring southern Utah’s cultural environment; provides leadership through policy development; and is known as Utah’s Dixie due to its mild climate and historic cotton production role—according to the official website.
Looking ahead to June’s primary election day, officials say they are preparing resources so all eligible residents can participate.
