Utah Tech women’s track and field finished first in team points, achieved a new school record, and secured multiple top finishes at the UNLV Rebel ELITE meet held at Myron Partridge Stadium on April 4.

The strong performance highlights Utah Tech’s progress this season as the women’s team scored 95 points to lead all teams, while the men’s squad placed third with 83 points. The event featured several standout individual performances from both squads.

Senior Lainee Leavitt earned Utah Tech’s first points of the meet by finishing fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters. Junior Charly Murie contributed eight points for her second-place finish in the women’s 5000 meter run with a time of 18:39.20. On the men’s side, Ryan Hatch, Dennis Speaks, and Luke Howell took second through fourth place in their respective 5000 meter race.

Averie Perriton led a group effort in the women’s 1500 meter run by placing second with a time of 4:41.93 as Utah Tech filled several top spots in that event. In addition to Perriton’s performance, freshman Zoie Adcox won the women’s 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.59.

The meet also saw Aiden Hardy set an outdoor program record for Utah Tech men’s track by running the men’s 800 meters in a time of 1:56.29 while taking first place in that event. The Trailblazer women swept podium places in the women’s 3000 meter run led again by Perriton, whose finish was third-best all-time for Utah Tech.
