Utah Tech women’s tennis lost to Tarleton State on Mar. 28, ending a four-match winning streak. The Trailblazers were defeated 7-0 by the Texans in a Western Athletic Conference matchup.
The result marks a setback for Utah Tech, which had built momentum with recent wins but was unable to overcome Tarleton State’s strong performance. The Texans entered the match after sweeping Montana earlier in the day and carried that energy into their contest against Utah Tech.
Tarleton State secured the doubles point by winning all three matches. In singles play, each Trailblazer was defeated in straight sets except for Nicole Kells at No. 6 singles, who pushed her first set to a tiebreak before falling 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
With this victory, Tarleton State extended its winning streak to five matches and improved its record to 13-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Utah Tech dropped to 9-11 overall and began conference play with a loss.
Looking ahead, Utah Tech will host Colorado Mesa for a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 11 at 10 a.m., which will also include senior recognition between matches.
