Utah Tech women’s tennis concluded its 2026 season on April 17 after a 4-0 defeat to Abilene Christian University in the Western Athletic Conference Championship semifinal.
The match, held in Arlington, Texas, saw Abilene Christian secure an early lead by winning the first two doubles matches. The Trailblazers’ duo of Cameron Hendrix and Nicole Kells were engaged in a close contest at Doubles No. 3 but their match was left unfinished once the Wildcats clinched the doubles point.
Abilene Christian maintained momentum into singles play, taking victories at Singles No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6 to seal the overall win. Several other singles matches went unfinished when ACU secured enough points for victory; notably, Utah Tech sophomore Maya Inouye led her match one set to none before play was halted.
Despite the loss, Utah Tech finished its campaign with an overall record of 11-12. This marks the first time since joining Division I that the program has reached double-digit wins and is also recorded as the third most successful season in school history for total victories.
The conclusion of this season highlights both progress and competitive challenges for Utah Tech women’s tennis as they continue building their Division I presence.
