Utah Tech finished in fifth place at the Southern Utah Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational, which concluded on March 8 at Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George.

The result marks the Trailblazers’ third top-five finish in seven team events this season. The team opened with a 19-over-par 307 on Friday, placing them fifth after the first round. They improved their score by five strokes with a 14-over 302 on Saturday but remained in fifth position. On Sunday, Utah Tech briefly moved up to fourth before settling back into fifth after posting a final round of 10-over 298.

Weber State led throughout the tournament and secured the team title with a total score of two-over-par 866, finishing five strokes ahead of Stetson. Wyoming placed third overall.

Individually, Samantha Phelan achieved her best finish of the season, taking solo-fifth place at one-over-par 217. Phelan recorded three birdies in each round and posted scores of 73, followed by consecutive even-par rounds of 72 over the weekend. Maria Purroy Galan tied for sixteenth at nine-over-par 225 after consistent play that included two birdies per round.

Other notable performances included Mia Cesarek tying for twenty-first at thirteen-over-par 229 and Gabrielle Roznicki firing Utah Tech’s lowest round of the event—a collegiate career-low 69—on Saturday en route to twelfth place overall. Three additional Trailblazers competed as individuals during the tournament.

Utah Tech is scheduled to return to competition in two weeks at the Bell Bank Pay It Forward Classic hosted by Minnesota on March 23-24 at The Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park.
