Utah Tech track and field athletes achieved three new school records and secured 23 top-5 finishes during competitions at the Bryan Clay Invitational and ULV Leopard Invitational in southern California, according to an April 18 announcement.
The results highlight a strong performance for Utah Tech, as both men’s and women’s teams saw multiple podium placements across a range of events. The achievements included breaking school records in the men’s 800 meters, women’s 4×400 relay, and women’s 3000-meter steeplechase.
At the ULV Leopard Invitational in La Verne, Lainee Leavitt placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters. Mackenzie Bradach finished third in long jump at 5.40 meters while Reyes Hernandez took fourth with a leap of 5.32 meters. On the track, Whitney Christiansen earned second place in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:11.91.
In men’s competition, Mordechai Yadegar set a new Utah Tech record for the men’s 800 meters by finishing seventh overall with a time of 1:55.10; Aiden Hardy followed closely behind in eighth place at 1:55.77.
Other notable performances included Megan Jenkins winning the women’s 400-meter hurdles (59.47 seconds) and Averie Perriton taking first place in both the women’s 5000-meter run (17:04.66) at ULV Leopard Invitational and setting another school record by running the Bryan Clay Invitational’s women’s steeplechase in just over ten minutes (10:29.62).
Relay teams also found success as Hannah Bingham, Ilenia DeHart, Gracie Meeds, and Scarlett Brock teamed up to win first place—and set a program record—in the women’s 4×400 relay with a time of 3:49.08.
Looking ahead, Utah Tech will compete next at Cedar City during the SUU Coliseum Championships on Thursday, April 30.
