Utah Tech will close out the 2025-26 women’s golf regular season with an appearance at the Montana State Bobcat Desert Classic, scheduled for Monday through Wednesday at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona, according to an April 10 announcement.
The event marks a significant point for Utah Tech as it prepares for conference changes and aims to build momentum ahead of postseason play. The Trailblazers are set to compete in a field of 13 teams, including Western Athletic Conference (WAC) members California Baptist and Utah Valley, as well as future Big Sky Conference opponents such as Weber State and Eastern Washington.
Utah Tech’s lineup will feature senior Jane Olson, juniors Mia Cesarek and Samantha Phelan, sophomore Maria Purroy Galan, and redshirt freshman Gabrielle Roznicki. Freshman Coryn Tardif will participate as an individual competitor. Head coach Lindsey Orth is leading the team in her tenth season. Last year under Orth’s guidance, the Trailblazers completed their fifth NCAA Division I season with four top-five finishes across nine events and secured second place at the Utah Valley Wigwam Preview.
Looking ahead to conference realignment, Utah Tech announced on June 25 that it accepted an invitation to join the Big Sky Conference starting July 1, 2026. Beginning with the 2026-27 season, most sports programs—including women’s golf—will compete under this new banner.
In their previous outing at the Minnesota Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” Collegiate held March 23-24 in Litchfield Park, Arizona, Utah Tech finished eleventh overall. Sophomore Maria Purroy Galan was the team’s top performer after posting a final round score of three-under-par 68—her collegiate career low—and tying for twenty-fifth place individually.
Through eight events this season, Purroy Galan leads Utah Tech with a stroke average of 74.45 over twenty-two rounds. Phelan and Cesarek are tied for second on the team with averages of 75.17 each. Following this tournament in Arizona, Utah Tech will compete for its first Division I conference title at its final WAC Women’s Golf Championships from April 20-22 in McKinney, Texas.
