Utah Tech is tied for fifth place after the opening round of the 2026 Western Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships, which began on April 20 at The Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch Hills Course in McKinney, Texas.
The tournament saw Utah Tech and California Baptist both finish with a score of 23-over par 311. They are currently trailing Abilene Christian and Utah Valley, who share the lead with matching scores of 10-over par 298. UT Arlington sits in third place at plus-16 (304), followed by Tarleton State in fourth at plus-18 (306). Southern Utah rounds out the field in seventh place at plus-24 (312).
Senior Jane Olson led Utah Tech on day one, shooting a steady two-over par 74. Olson’s performance included sixteen pars and two bogeys, placing her in a tie for fifth individually and five shots behind leader Maddi Kamas from Abilene Christian, who recorded the only under-par round with a three-under 69.
Juniors Mia Cesarek and Samantha Phelan are both tied for eighteenth overall after posting six-over par rounds of 78. Cesarek made one birdie during her round, while Phelan recorded twelve pars. Sophomore Maria Purroy Galan finished with a nine-over par 81 to sit in a four-way tie for twenty-ninth; she also had two birdies during her round. Redshirt freshman Gabrielle Roznicki carded an eleven-over par 83 with two birdies to end day one in thirty-fourth place.
Tournament play continues Tuesday morning starting at eight o’clock Mountain Time as teams look to improve their standings heading into subsequent rounds.
