Utah Tech finished its 2025-26 regular season tournament schedule by tying for seventh place at the UC Santa Barbara Gaucho Invitational, according to an April 7 announcement. The event concluded on Tuesday at the Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta, California.
The result marks the end of Utah Tech’s regular season and sets the stage for their participation in the upcoming Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championships. The Trailblazers opened with a team score of four-over-par 292 on Monday morning, followed by a six-over 294 in the afternoon round, placing them sixth after two rounds.
On Tuesday, Utah Tech posted a five-over 293 but dropped one spot to finish tied with Creighton at plus-15 (879). Host UC Santa Barbara led throughout and won the team title at nine-under (855), finishing two shots ahead of Denver. Boise State took third place with a total score of five-over (869).
Freshman David Liechty led Utah Tech individually, tying for fourth place at four-under-par (212). Liechty achieved his third top-five finish and fourth top-10 overall this season. His performance included rounds of one-over 73 and one-under 71 on Monday, capped by a four-under 68 on Tuesday that featured four birdies and an eagle over his final round.
Sophomore Frank Miao tied for eighteenth place with a three-over-par total (219), highlighted by an opening round of five-under 67 that matched his collegiate career low. Junior Ashton McArthur tied for thirtieth at eight-over (224), while redshirt junior Braden Anderson posted his best showing as a Trailblazer, tying for thirty-fourth at nine-over (225). Freshman Joe Zhou finished tied for fifty-first after rebounding from earlier rounds to shoot a final-round seventy-five.
Looking ahead, Utah Tech will prepare to compete in its final Western Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championships from April 27 to April 29 at The Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
