Utah Tech ended its 2025-26 women’s basketball regular season with a 71-59 loss to Utah Valley on Saturday at the UCCU Center. The defeat left the Trailblazers with a 9-19 overall record and a 4-13 mark in Western Athletic Conference play.
The game began with Utah Tech taking an early 15-5 lead, forcing nine turnovers by Utah Valley in the first quarter that led to 12 points. Kaylee Borden contributed significantly, scoring eight of her team’s first-quarter points, including two three-pointers. By the end of the first period, Utah Tech was ahead 19-13.
In the second quarter, Brie Crittendon hit a three-pointer to extend Utah Tech’s lead to nine. However, Utah Valley responded with a 15-2 run capped by consecutive baskets from Gracie Sorenson, putting the Wolverines up 28-24. Borden broke this run with another three-pointer and added one more before halftime, resulting in a tied score of 30-30 at intermission.
After halftime, Borden’s fifth three-pointer gave Utah Tech a narrow lead at 35-34. Utah Valley then scored ten straight points to take control at 44-35 midway through the third quarter. Despite efforts from the Trailblazers to close the gap—coming within three points after a layup by Paige Cofer—the Wolverines pulled away in the final minutes for the win.
Borden finished as the game’s top scorer with 24 points on nine-of-twenty shooting and made six three-pointers—a career high for her. She also had nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Cofer added twelve points and five rebounds while Crittendon contributed eleven points and three rebounds. Senior point guard Chardonnay Hartley recorded seven points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
Utah Tech shot just over thirty-five percent from the field (20-of-57) and made ten out of thirty-two attempts from beyond the arc. The team also converted nine out of eleven free throws and outrebounded Utah Valley by three boards (39-36). For Utah Valley, Kylee Mabry led her team with seventeen points as they shot nearly thirty-nine percent from the floor.
Next for Utah Tech is their appearance as No. 7 seed in their final “WAC Vegas” tournament. They will face No. 6 seed UT Arlington in Las Vegas on Wednesday afternoon at Orleans Arena.
