Utah Tech lost to Brigham Young University 19-2 on March 10 at Miller Park, marking the Trailblazers’ worst defeat of the season.
The loss leaves Utah Tech with a record of 13-4. The Trailblazers gave up runs in each of the first seven innings, while BYU scored multiple runs in five of those frames, including an eight-run second inning that put the game out of reach early.
Offensively, Utah Tech struggled throughout most of the game and managed only three hits through eight innings. Kyle McDaniel contributed two singles, and Petey Soto Jr. added a double in the third inning. The team avoided being shut out by scoring two runs in the ninth inning due to a throwing error by BYU and another single from McDaniel, who finished with three hits for the day.
Utah Tech will look to rebound as it travels to Northern California for a three-game series against Santa Clara University this weekend.
