The College Sports Communicators announced on Mar. 31 that three members of the Southern Utah University men’s basketball team—Jaiden Feroah, Tanner Hayhurst, and Kai Burdick—were selected for the Academic All-District team. In addition, Hayhurst was named a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America award.
The recognition highlights student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. The CSC Academic All-America program honors top performers in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA divisions. To be eligible, nominees must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.
Burdick started the final eight games of the season and achieved career-high scoring performances in consecutive games against Utah Tech and Utah Valley. He appeared in all 32 games for Southern Utah this season.
Feroah earned a spot on the All-Western Athletic Conference Defensive Team after leading the league with 52 blocked shots during the year. He also recorded a career-high 35 points and collected 13 rebounds in a game against Utah Tech. Feroah finished second on his team in scoring and led them in rebounding.
Hayhurst stood out as one of the conference’s most accurate long-distance shooters by making 53 three-pointers at a rate of 46.1 percent. He ranked third on his team with an average of 10.3 points per game and contributed nearly four rebounds per contest.
All three athletes were recognized not only for their performance on the court but also for their academic achievements.
