On May 16, 2023, Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) released the following statement in response to Special Counsel John Durham’s final report into the FBI’s Trump-Russia probe. Rep. Stewart is a member of both the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

"The Durham report is the latest piece of evidence that confirms what many of us have seen clearly for years: the FBI was weaponized for political purposes," said Rep. Stewart. "The partisan Bureau became a funnel for disinformation from the Hillary Clinton campaign. As a result, those in power at the FBI and DOJ are directly responsible for immeasurable damage to our Democracy.

"This blatant fabrication and deceptive sale to the American public is a travesty, and House Republicans won't allow it to be forgotten. We will hold hearings, relentlessly pursue the facts, and demand accountability to you, the People. Never again can we allow our most fundamental safeguards to so fundamentally fail us, and never again can we allow partisans to weaponize the awesome power of the state."
