Cost of college went up for all students at Dixie State University

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.4 percent for 2018-19 at Dixie State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Utah residents paid $5,253 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $173 more than the $5,080 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 186.5 percent more than residents this year, or $15,051. Their price tag grew 3.5 percent from $14,548 in 2017-18.

About 74 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Utah residents. And about 24 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 90 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,718 students received grants or scholarships totaling $9.4 million and 634 students took out student loans totaling more than $3.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (9,950), 5,499 students used grants or scholarships totaling $31.7 million, and 2,488 students took out $15.1 million in federal student loans.
