Southern Utah University will host the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Gymnastics Championships on March 21, with competition set to begin at 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time. The Flippin’ Birds enter the event as the top-seeded team, holding a National Qualifying Score of 195.955 and leading the conference in all events.

The championship meet is significant for Southern Utah, which has maintained strong performances throughout the season and aims to secure its fourth consecutive conference title. The event will be streamed online, and live statistics will be available for fans following from home.

Southern Utah recently faced a narrow defeat against Boise State but saw standout performances from junior Niya Randolph, who won both the all-around and floor events. Other notable results included Sage Paladino and Berlin Hall tying for second on floor, Kayla Pardue earning top marks on vault, and several gymnasts placing highly on bars.

The competition field includes Sacramento State, ranked No. 49 nationally; UC Davis at No. 59; and Alaska Anchorage at No. 71. Sacramento State comes into the postseason after a strong showing against Washington, led by Sarah Lutrel’s all-around win and Kara Houghton’s continued success on floor. UC Davis closed its regular season with promising routines from Avah Reichow and Amelia Moneymaker, while Alaska Anchorage has shown improvement in recent meets with key contributions from Claudia Lessig.

Southern Utah holds a national ranking of No. 26 overall and leads the MPSF in vault, bars, beam, and floor events this season. The team has swept weekly conference awards five times this year and collected a total of 21 individual honors among its athletes. Randolph was named MPSF Gymnast of the Year for a third straight time, while Hall earned Freshman of the Year honors.

Looking ahead, Southern Utah is already guaranteed a spot at NCAA Division I Regionals based on current rankings. The team will learn its regional placement during the NCAA Bracket Reveal scheduled for March 23.
