Sophomore infielder Kinley Pappas was named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week for the second time this season, according to a March 23 announcement from the conference office.
The recognition comes after Pappas delivered strong performances in four games, hitting .818 with nine hits in eleven at-bats. Over that span, she recorded six extra-base hits including three doubles, two triples, and a home run. She also scored five runs, drove in seven runs batted in (RBIs), and stole two bases.
Pappas reached base safely in eleven out of thirteen plate appearances by drawing a walk and being hit by a pitch. She achieved multiple hits in each game during the week—two hits each in three games and three hits during an 8-6 win over Utah Valley on Saturday. In the second game of that doubleheader against Utah Valley, she scored three runs, added two RBIs, and hit both a triple and a home run despite her team’s narrow 7-6 loss.
So far this season, Pappas leads the WAC with a .469 batting average as well as leading categories such as doubles (13), total hits (45), on-base percentage (.514), slugging percentage (.896), and total bases (86).
Other weekly award winners include Ashlee Annett from California Baptist on March 16; Makayla Medellin from California Baptist on March 9; Valeria Feeney from UT Arlington on March 2; Macie Vickers from Tarleton State on February 16; and Mia McNulty from UT Arlington on February 9.
