Junior Ava Uhrich has earned her third Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week award after leading the Southern Utah University women’s basketball team to two important victories. This marks the sixth time a Southern Utah player has received this honor during the current season, which is more than any other team in the conference.

Head Coach Tracy Mason commented on Uhrich’s performance: “Ava was a huge part of our wins last week, and her energy really fuels this team. She continues to step up and rise to the occasion, and she totally deserves this recognition.”

In Southern Utah’s final two home games, Uhrich averaged 25 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 60.6 percent from the field. She helped secure wins over two of the WAC’s top four teams and committed only two turnovers across both games.

During the matchup against Tarleton State, Uhrich recorded 24 points, 10 rebounds, and matched her career-high with six assists. In Sunday’s game against Abilene Christian—one of the conference’s strongest defensive teams—she scored 26 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, made three steals, and had two blocks.

Southern Utah will conclude its regular season with a three-game road trip starting Saturday, February 28, against Utah Tech in St. George at 2:00 p.m. The game will be available live on ESPN+.
